I actually remixed this source about 5 years ago, but was rushed trying to meet a competition deadline and I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome at all. So this has actually been in the making for 5 years, on and off. I finally came back to this source for the June 2011 Dwelling of Duels competition. I’m much happier with this outcome.

The meaning behind the lyrics to this song are that at some time in life we all have to find who we are. For some it’s an easy discovery, for others it may take years upon years. A few years ago I found myself at a crossroads and I had to rediscover who I was in order to move on, and that was the inspiration for this song.

As mentioned above, there are lyrics to this and they are as follows:

Searching
You’re looking from the outside
Yearning for the inside
There’s nothing that you can hide

Exhausted
You’re pushing yourself too hard
You’ve never gone this far
To find out who you really are

Another day
Another way
To see the end your story brings
Try again
To see the end
And open up yet another dream

Enjoy!

This was my first work after a 5-6 year break from recording music, so it’s undoubtedly a bit rusty and not as polished as it could be.

I’d been out of the remixing loop for a good 5 years now due to life situations and time constraints (also read as time sinks) but I’m back and full of new ideas. I arranged these two themes long ago, back in 2004, but the result wasn’t received well due to the shaky nature of my voice and poor production quality. So that mix sat on my hard drive for me and close friends to listen to. However, the two themes are dear to my heart and now that I’ve developed more and learned a bit more about production, I’ve been itching to revisit them. This is the product of that desire.
One neat tidbit about this submission is that the percussion is recorded live. I recently purchased a new fire wire interface that allows for multiple ins (and outs) to their own respective track. I was able to use 4 different mic’s simultaneously to get a very accurate sound for the djembe and 2 mic’s for the tambourine. I’m very happy with the results, personally. I also recently upgraded to Cakewalk Sonar X1, which this mix is recorded in. It was mastered in Adobe Soundbooth.
There are lyrics to this arrangement.
I never thought those days would end
Never thought hearts could mend
The feelings inside of me
The passions that burn to be

I see clearly
Things that once were so hard to find
Hold them dearly
To my side

Everyone out there is lookin’ for somethin’
If you’re fallin’ from the sky then just hit the ground runnin’
No matter where you land
Just keep your feet in the sand
And face another day
It’s just another day

Every day passin’ is another day to roam
If you start to feel lonely, know that you’re not alone
I’ll always be here
Know I’ll always be near
No matter where you go
You’re never alone

Thoughts are rising
Now advising
Compromising
You

Pushin’ through the bad times, when you start to feel low
The flower needs the rain, just as it needs the sun to grow
In the face of all the pain
Your will is not in vain
Never stop going strong
Just keep going strong

Just keep your head up, keep your sights toward the sky
Don’t listen to the others, just spread your wings and fly
Always be true
To the things you once knew
Don’t give up on hope
Never give up on hope

Thoughts are rising
Now advising
Compromising
You

Always dreaming
Thoughts are streaming
Future gleaming
Through

Enjoy!

This was something I did just to get back into the swing of things.  I had just purchased a baritone Ibanez SZ320 and was dying to use it, so I went back and redid the guitars on From Within.

Nothing too fancy, just deeper tone.  I like this version better than the original.

Enjoy!
